APPALACHIAN NATURAL RESOURCE EXHIBIT

MOONLITE GARDENS

Appalachian Natural Resource Exhibit

The Tree of Appalachian Life

A Tribute to our #1 Renewable ResourceWOOD

When you look at the world surrounding you, what do you see?
Cities – Farms – Forests.  Forest areas occupy a third of the United States land, and is the number one renewable resource, that is misunderstood.

When we wake up every day with the need for food, energy, and materials. We use a lot of wood from furnishing warmth and energy from fires, to building our homes, to giving us a place to rest with furniture, and all the way to writing our grocery lists.  With this in mind the average individual uses up to 1600 pounds of wood each year in the US.

Wood is an essential element in our lives, we need to be aware if we have enough to last for today, and throughout tomorrow.  The wood we use today will build and heat our homes, where the wood we plant today will shade our future generations.

The Appalachian Festival is paying tribute to our #1 renewable resource, WOOD.  We want to honor those who work in this profession to bring us this vital part of our daily lives.  So when you pick up that pencil or walk on that hardwood floor, remember all the men and women that make it possible.
